Blackbird Singing In The Dead Of Night

After I get home from Supper Club tonight (at Cleo - can't wait for lots of shared plates!), my agenda consists of packing for San Francisco. I'm hopping on a plane early tomorrow morning with a handful of my girlfriends so the packing must be done tonight. Panic ensues....

This feather outfit from Oracle Fox is providing me with my greatest inspiration right now. It's making me reminisce about a Cynthia Rowley skirt I snagged up three years ago that I'm still rocking.

Back In Black

A few friends and I started a monthly supper club in 2012. Every month we are trying one new restaurant somewhere around LA with tonight's gathering taking place at Eveleigh. I'm finding dinner outfit inspiration from a few snapshots I've collected of black (with spurts of white) ensembles. I'm especially drawn to the moto jacket look right now because let's be honest, it never goes out of style.

I hope you all enjoy your Thursday night as much as I know I will!

LBD

Tory on the always relevant little black dress...

Why is the Little Black Dress such a perennial?
It’s a classic, and it’s flattering on everyone. It’s also an incredible cultural phenomenon. Think about all the images we have in our minds of stylish women in a little black dress: Coco Chanel (who popularized the LBD), Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly, anyone in anything by Azzedine Alaïa.

Why do you love the Little Black Dress?
My mother and grandmother wore them, and each had a distinct style. Black dresses are really a blank canvas — you make of them what you will.

So it’s not just for minimalists?
It’s for everyone. Minimalists can keep it streamlined and spare in all black. If you like it bolder, think about a dress with lace or sequins and then pile on the costume jewelry and a statement shoe.

How do you wear it?
I like a ladylike silhouette — nipped waist and slim fit. For cocktails, I pair our Bovary dress with my favorite Sevan Bicakci ring and embellished stilettos like our Pixie pump. Depending on my mood and where I’m going, I mix up the shoes and jewelry and go with either opaque black tights or bare legs.

Isn't she such a classic!? Be sure to shop Tory Burch's new little black dresses that are a part of her new Holiday 2012 collection. I'm dying over the little black dresses and the teal jewel toned pieces!

Pastel + Black

This Vogue Russia spread captures how I feel about this time of year. It is still the chilly winter (black) but I want to feel the balmy warmth of spring (pastel). That is why I am embracing the purely perfect pastel colors of this spread along with the sprinkling of basic black details. Trust me. Illuminate your wardrobe with some lusciously lovely light pastels. You won't regret it.
