Amanda Peet's Pad
New Yorker Amanda Peet has become a California convert since setting up roots in her Spanish-style home in the Hollywood Hills. Her relaxed yet vibrant home, built in 1927, features French doors, cypress trees, and a grapefruit orchard.
I think she has transformed the home into one that captures family, childhood fairytales, warmth, and joy.

Reese Is The Word
Five years ago Reese Witherspoon bought a historic ranch in the hills of Ojai. The ranch, built in 1923, sits on seven acres that includes a pool, a barn, guest cottages, and a horse paddock that houses her Friesian horse and her chestnut pony.
Brick and stucco walls, Spanish tiles, exposed beams, extravagant iron light fixtures, and other original architectural elements have been and are well preserved in Reese's ranch. To put her own touches on the property Reese worked with interior designer Kristen Buckingham to incorporate European antiques, rustic accessories, and custom-designed upholstery.
Landscape designer Jay Griffith said "Reese is a Southern belle and wanted something poetic and feminine. I tried to capture the ethereal quality you see in plein-air paintings, the mythical California of Ojai, Bel Air, and Carmel-by-the-Sea." So, he added a gravel driveway and courtyard as well as large patches of fragrant lavender, jasmine, roses, and Mexican sage.
Reese calls the magical home, which serves as her family's weekend and holiday escape, "meditative and restorative." I can see why.

Team USA
I hope you are all feasting your eyes on the opening ceremonies of the Olympics right about now. Go USA!
My attention is also captured by all the buzz surrounding the "fashion Olympics" with Stella McCartney designing the Team GB kit, Prada designing the Italian national sailing team kit, Giorgio Armani designing the Italian National Olympic Team kit, Hermès designing the French Olympic equestrian team kit, and, of course, Ralph Lauren designing the Team USA kit. Let's also not forget Mr. Karl Lagerfeld who created his own Olympic-inspired collection and pop-up store in London's Selfridges.

Summer Block Party
Summer is flying by way faster than I want! My summer is and always has been set by the beach. Summer IS the beach. But, what is summer to you?
Is it never-ending days spent in the surf and sand, sunscreen scented skin, and wavy beach hair? Or is it cross-county road trips with friends and playlists? Or maybe it is camping at music festivals in the heat with feathers and flowers in your hair. Or is it tailgating by a lake or in the Colorado mountains with beers and burgers?
Some summer days we will never forget and all I can say is long live summer!
Tonight I'm letting summer ring at Billabong's Design For Humanity concert, fashion show, and art show with some friends! I'm excited to get a little wild midweek because everyone deserves it once in awhile. I'm also anxious to hear the bands that are performing. I'll let you know if its The Joy Formidable, The Lumineers, Imagine Dragons, or Walk the Moon that puts on the best show.
Happy midweek summer block party!

Ashes To Ashes
How stunning are these Hermès cigar ashtrays!? Instead of using them for their intended purpose, wouldn't they be the perfect tray by an entryway for keys or mail? While Hermès changes the design of their porcelain trays throughout the year, the trays always have signature gold or silver cigar divots on either side. What more could a girl ask for than such intricate details?

Heat Wave
It has been hot the last few days throughout the various parts of Southern California that I have been hoping to and from. Guess what!? I love it!
Cheers to the warmth of summer!
