Raring To Go

I, like most of you, have to get through today before the long holiday weekend begins. The 4th of July is possibly my favorite holiday so tomorrow can't come soon enough! I'll be spending the long weekend bouncing between Laguna, Newport, and Del Mar. What are your holiday plans?

Please, take me to the beach already. Please, give me summertime American red desserts. Please tell me it's time to get stars & stripes festive! Cheers!

Remember To Explore

After a great week with my sister and some family, I'm heading up north to Napa for Bottle Rock Music Festival. I can't wait to visit a new place while taking in some amazing music! What are your weekend plans?

Endless Summer

Although summer is winding down, for my best friend and me summer is a lifestyle that never ends.

Cheers to hanging onto long summer days!

Sunday Funday

It is a magnificently gorgeous day today in sunny Santa Monica. I truly believe that days like today are a gift!

On the list of possibilities for today: getting a great workout in, jumping in the ocean, walking the venice canals, eating a yummy meal out, and laying by the Fairmont hotel pool.

What are you up to on this beautiful Sunday!?

Amanda Peet's Pad

New Yorker Amanda Peet has become a California convert since setting up roots in her Spanish-style home in the Hollywood Hills. Her relaxed yet vibrant home, built in 1927, features French doors, cypress trees, and a grapefruit orchard.

I think she has transformed the home into one that captures family, childhood fairytales, warmth, and joy.

Reese Is The Word

Five years ago Reese Witherspoon bought a historic ranch in the hills of Ojai. The ranch, built in 1923, sits on seven acres that includes a pool, a barn, guest cottages, and a horse paddock that houses her Friesian horse and her chestnut pony.

Brick and stucco walls, Spanish tiles, exposed beams, extravagant iron light fixtures, and other original architectural elements have been and are well preserved in Reese's ranch. To put her own touches on the property Reese worked with interior designer Kristen Buckingham to incorporate European antiques, rustic accessories, and custom-designed upholstery.

Landscape designer Jay Griffith said "Reese is a Southern belle and wanted something poetic and feminine. I tried to capture the ethereal quality you see in plein-air paintings, the mythical California of Ojai, Bel Air, and Carmel-by-the-Sea." So, he added a gravel driveway and courtyard as well as large patches of fragrant lavender, jasmine, roses, and Mexican sage.

Reese calls the magical home, which serves as her family's weekend and holiday escape, "meditative and restorative." I can see why.

Inside her son's room: a collection of antlers, a Turkish rug, an antique desk, and an Italian mirror.

Inside her daughter's room: a vintage chair, a 1920s chandelier, and an 1830s Swedish table

Custom-made leather benches and 1760s Swedish wing chairs

An antique Belgian table

The wood ceiling, wrought-iron chandelier, and fireplace are original to the house

The living room has a combination of 19th-century and modern pieces

On the terrace: an antique hanging lantern and vintage wicker and iron chairs

I'm absolutely in love with this alcove!

Heat Wave

It has been hot the last few days throughout the various parts of Southern California that I have been hoping to and from. Guess what!? I love it!

Cheers to the warmth of summer!
