Geometric Glam

I love having a closet full of different colors, prints, and cuts. In the warmer months I tend to wear an excess of bright colors and florals. In order to shake up my look, I've been inspired lately to add in a geometric print or two (to give my florals a rest as well). How do you feel about geometric patterns, yes or no?

No Turning Back

Today is my first day of grad school so, as I said, there is no turning back, only looking forward. I'm excited to roll up my sleeve and dig in!

Friend Hangover

Friend hangover: feelings of sadness and depression after being separated from your best friends. Occurs mostly after having spent multiple fun-filled days together and then being forced to go back to your everyday lives. Friend hangovers occur most commonly with friends who live in different places and are thus separated often.

I'm suffering from a friend hangover today after an amazing weekend with some of my best girlfriends. Cheers to seeing each other again (& more sleepovers) in three and a half weeks!

We did it, we made it to Friday. I'm jumping with anticipation because I'm off to Vegas in just a few short minutes for my friend's bachelorette party! Reuniting with my best girlfriends is always the most exciting feeling. Do you have big weekend plans?

Happy Friday loves and cheers to a friend-filled weekend!

Floral Paradise

Tropical prints + pops of pink + neutral booties = my ideal outfit for al fresco happy hour meals on summer evenings. I loved this dress from the moment I saw it because the colors brightened my mood, the tropical print makes me think of traveling, and the pleated skirt gives the dress a playful swing when walking. I'm never one to shy from color, thus I'd encourage everyone to experiment with highlighter colors this summer for a fun twist. Now I want a pina colada!

Charmed By Charleston

Every time I have to leave Charleston, SC I go kicking and screaming. The town is one of the most charming and beautiful places I've ever been. It is rich with history and full of to-die-for food. Trust me, Charleston's ocean setting and can't-stop-till-you-drop shopping make Charleston a top travel destination.

With my sister's help, she's a local, I put together a little guide for doing Charleston right. Dig your teeth in!

Stay:

Charleston Place: A beautifully Southern hotel complete with a great bar, go-to shops, and a lovely spa. Can I check in now?

Zero George Street Boutique Hotel: Tradition meets the contemporary South at this inviting hotel composed of five restored historical residential buildings.

Do:

Walk along Rainbow Row and The Battery

Rainbow Row

Take a carriage ride

Peruse the historical City Market for straw sweet grass baskets

Browse the farmer's market in Marion Square on Saturday mornings to enjoy breakfast & discover local artists

Shop:

Hampden Clothing: for designers including A.L.C., Current/Elliott, Equipment, Jenni Kayne, Rag & Bone, & Tucker

Palm Avenue: for Lily Pulitzer

Acquisitions: for amazing home wear and furniture

Lily: for cards, stationary, jewelry, and beautiful trinkets

Eat:

The Macintosh: The menu changes with the season and never fails to impress for cocktails & dinner

Poogan's Porch: A Breakfast, lunch, & dinner must - the shrimp & grits

Poogan's Porch

Blossom: Go here for good ole' Southern seafood

Husk: The pig ear lettuce wraps sound risky but they are to die for

Hall's Chop House: Hall's boasts a versatile menu but I always pick a steak when dining here

Hominy Grill: Oprah's favorite restaurant in Charleston serves up delicious breakfast and lunch (Don't miss the okra & shrimp beignets)

Hominy Grill

Drink:

The Cocktail Club: An diverse cocktail menu + regular live music = a great environment for gathering and drinking

Midtown: The inside bar, outdoor patio bar, pool table, and live music make for a laid back college bar

The Rooftop Bar at Vendue Inn: Go here for refreshing cocktails and one-of-a-kind views of the Charleston harbor

Wear:

When I was in Charleston last week I experienced typical Southern summer weather - warm & humid with afternoon showers. One day I worked with the weather by wearing this lightweight Anthropologie jumpsuit. The ikat jumpsuit packs great and has a feminine fit with the tie waist so it was the perfect choice (speaking of jumpsuits, I'm also currently coveting this Anthropologie romper for summer!).

I also embraced the city's proximity to the water and sported this J.Crew floral anchor tee. Let's be honest, I often throw a nautical twist into my dressing.

All in all, my sister and I agree that Charleston is the perfect city to travel to with girlfriends, with your family, or for a couple's weekend. Xoxo travel bugs!

An Affair To Remember

One of my absolute best friends and soul mates is getting married in just over a month! With the bachelorette party coming up this weekend and showers, parties, brunches, the rehearsal dinner, and of course the wedding day itself approaching, I'm getting more and more excited with each passing day. Being a bridesmaid in the wedding is the greatest honor a friend has given me. I get goosebumps when I think about how beautiful and full of love her special day will be. For now though, I'm getting ready to put on my party hat this weekend in Vegas with all the girls!

For more wedding inspiration, take a peak at my wedding board on Pinterest.

Wedding countdown: 33 days.

Sea Island: Secretly Tropical

Unless you've been there, you probably don't know how tropical the coast of Georgia is. I've been lucky enough to spend a great amount of time up and down the Georgia coast so I know how humid, balmy, and tropical the beach towns can be (and how genuine the people in them are!). However, Sea Island isn't the only place this editorial reminds me of... it also makes me reminiscent of my family trip to the Florida Keys last Christmas, so I just had to share!

The floral fashion featured in this editorial is right up my alley too. So, all in all, these gorgeous photographs make me even more ready for my trip to Sea Island (and then Charleston) tomorrow!

White On White

Recently, I've been toying with the idea of doing outfit posts; I decided there is no time like the present! We shall see how it goes...

Memorial Day has officially come and gone so I'm no longer breaking the "don't wear white before Memorial Day" rule in the white on white outfit I wore out to dinner (Central Bistro - delish!) in Phoenix. To liven up my all white ensemble, I mixed in a collection of bracelets along with accessorizes that stood out against the white. This is a good general rule of thumb when working with whites.

P.S. I'm going on the record here as saying that I don't believe or follow the "no white before Memorial Day" rule!
